➳ Take us to the beginning of it all for you - How and when was SUGAR PLUM CAKES AND DESSERTS born? I decided to start my business after returning from Europe in 2012. I'd seen some incredible culinary delights on my travels and having always worked in the hospitality industry I was itching to get back to OZ and start something of my own. I started wholesaling to local cafes and then markets and then one friend asked me to make a Wedding cake ( which I refused to do but she persisted! ) I never wanted to do Wedding cakes as the pressure terrified me! But then another friend asked, and another, and before I knew it... I'm now mostly a Wedding cake designer!
➳ What can SUGAR PLUM CAKES AND DESSERTS offer a couple for their Wedding day? Wow we have our fingers in so many pies! (pardon the pun!) Not only do we create delicious, individual, elegant wedding cakes, but we supply dessert buffets, we cater, we have a mobile vintage caravan bar, we have a vintage wedding car... and more on the cards...

➳ Did you somehow always know that you would design Wedding cakes? No! The thought absolutely terrified me. But I had friends that were getting married that saw some potential I guess and persisted and now I absolutely LOVE all things Wedding cake!

➳ Do you have a story that you would like to share from your experiences? Too many to choose from! Ill never forgot the HOTTEST day! A Bride that really wanted her cake on the dance floor under a marquee (that was 50 degrees underneath!) when I had barely left the venue and they called to say the cake was melting and sliding and they had managed to catch it but I had to come back to mend it. Needless to say - it stayed in the cool room until cake cutting time - Pinterest is great for ideas but we are not in control of the weather so flexibility it important also.

➳ What advice would you offer to a couple who are just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding cake & mobile bar service? Take your time scrolling through pinterest, websites, magazines, researching - get creative! Wedding cakes dont have to be the boring old fruit cake anymore! Guests love something different!!! Work with your suppliers, sample and most of all, TRUST their abilities to create something INDIVIDUAL for you.

➳ Do you have a personal favourite style of Wedding? Ooooooo I love me a barn style Wedding! Share platters lining the tables, dim lights, the murmur of conversations over wine and cocktails... so romantic! Followed closely by a festival style wedding, a massive marquee, a dance floor with banjoes playing, food trucks and buckets of beer!

➳ What is the best part about what you do: Being able to be apart of a couples special day. I love LOVE. Its something so special shared between two people and then sharing this with their nearest and dearest. What an honour it is to be apart of. I love the whole process! From meeting my couples to then seeing their face when they see their cake for the first time. Its something truly special.
