Together for 5.5 years after meeting at the Fox Hotel in Brisbane, Jessica and Alex marry each other at The Stables in Wellington Point, QLD in July this year. In front of 90 of their dearest and dearest, these two sweethearts share their Wedding journey and offer advice for how to best enjoy your day!
➳ Tell us about the proposal: Alex and I went away on our first big overseas trip to Japan. We spent a full day at Disneyland and Alex proposed during the last series of fireworks for the evening.
➳ What led you to decide on your Wedding venue? The property we had borrowed for the day presented itself as a blank canvas and allowed me the freedom to work with it however I chose.
➳ What was the inspiration behind your Wedding theme? I love the boho and country feel - so our friends property met both of these themes.

➳ Your most favourite moment/s of the day: Enjoying the best day of our lives with our nearest and dearest friends and family, however the whole day was amazing - we cannot choose just one moment.

➳ What was your favourite detail/s about the day? Flowers and reception set up – seeing all the little things we spent so much effort organising finally all come together.

➳ How long did it take for you to find and how was your dress? The dress took 2 day trips where I went to a range of Bridal stores before I finally came across my dress. The dress was floor length mermaid tulle and Chantilly lace gown with long sleeves made by Pronovias – purchased from White Lily Couture. Overall, the shopping experience was fun and was extra special as I had the help of Bridesmaids and my Mum with me.

➳ What does marriage mean to you? Marriage to us means spending the rest of our lives with our best friend and sharing all the different adventures life will throw at us. It's a nice little balance between loving them unconditionally with the occasional fun of annoying them tirelessly.

➳ Any classic stories you want to share from the day? The table our Wedding cake was placed on was bumped sending the cake flying against the clear plastic marquee wall and falling to the floor. At the time I was outside having my dress re-prepared for our night photos that Andrew Foy does perfectly and in order to prevent me from finding out Alex had organised an obstacle course of about 15 wedding guests to stop me from entering the tent to see what had happened. By the time I was able to get back inside, the cake had been salvaged and was none the wiser until we got home. Alex tried so hard to avoid me finding out but by that point he’d found the event so funny he couldn’t resist telling me.

➳ What advice would you offer to other couples planning a Wedding? Such a wonderful day will naturally finish in the blink of an eye, if you spend the whole day stressing over all the little things you’ll never have the ability to stand back, take it all in and appreciate the culmination of all the work you did. After all of the effort that goes into organising the perfect day, you shouldn’t deprive yourself of that opportunity. Things always work themselves out and fortunately everyone who comes to the big day will always be willing to help out whenever something doesn’t go according to plan.
