"It is so rewarding knowing that Brides and Grooms will forever see our creations in their photographs and memories for eternity." Ashleigh - The Naked Florist

The Naked Florist goes all the way back to when Ashleigh was 5. With a family friend who was a florist that Ashleigh looked up to, at this point she knew it was all she wanted to do. Funnily enough, the family friend tried to talk her out of it! Fast forward 20 years later (+ one uni degree & alot of travel later)  Ashleigh decided to see what floristry was all about. Beginning her own business whilst studying, it wasn't long after gradutating that she opened her own store and hasn't looked back since.

What can THE NAKED FLORIST offer a couple for their Wedding day? Trust. We pride ourselves on having a very distinct style and core values. Many come to us for our style and know that we can bring their vision to life. With access to our own personal farm, we are able to forage fresh flowers and foliage that are different to what flower markets can offer. Our flowers will always be a direct reflection of what truly is in season at the time - making sure no bouquet is ever the same.

So you really always knew that you wanted to be a floral designer? I have always been creative and love to work with my hands. I was however talked out of being a florist by another florist. I understand her reasoning, it can be an undervalued labour intensive job. Before becoming a florist, I had worked many a bar job whilst studying fine art & teaching at University. I thought, if what I actually wanted to do failed, I'd have a back up plan with teaching. I got 3.5 years through my 4 year uni degree and thought stuff it, I need to do what I want to do. I will make it work!

➳ What keeps you inspired along the way? Luckily, I see inspiration in the simplest forms - flowers & foliage etc. Each piece I find instrigues me and sparks my imagination. I have a list so long of things I want to create and styles I want to explore.

Do you have any stories that you would like to share from your experiences? I have two things:
1- If you want something go for it.
2- Flowers can make or break a Wedding. Choose wisely and don't settle for less.

What advice would you offer to a couple that is just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding florals? Pinterest and Instagram like crazy. You will begin to see a pattern of what stands out to you. Wait a little while and return to your inspiration and if you still love it, select a few images of what you must have. Find a designer with a similiar style and get talking flowers! If you go to a florist that you love for their style you will receive something amazing. Don't ever try and make a florist do something they don't specialise in. You won't be using their full potential.

Do you have a personal favourite style? Yes, most definitely. I love abstract and sculptural designs, anything with a 70's vibe and anything wild.

What is the best part about what you do: I get to be involved in creating the best day of peoples lives. How amazing is that?! It is so rewarding knowing that Brides and Grooms will forever see our creations in their photographs and memories for eternity. Oh, and the happy tears and hugs. They are the best!
