➳ HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE YOUR MOST POPULAR WEDDING CAKES?
​That is a difficult question I must say, as each cake has their own little flair and characteristics. But our most popular style would be our signature naked cakes adorned with fresh florals. These naked cakes, depending on size can take a couple of days to bake the bases and a few of hours to build and style. I really enjoy working with each bride and groom to make their dream wedding cake come true, and include some of their characteristics into the cake, whether it be the colour of the florals, the particular flowers chosen (roses and peonies are a bridal favourite!) and even the flavour of the cake.


➳ WHEN WAS BELLA AND PEONY BORN?
​Bella was always an idea that only came into fruition mid 2016. It started with playing in the kitchen, experimenting with flavours and designs and​ ​made it's way to instagram where Bella has truly evolved into a brand. I've finally been able to express my ideas and the mood boards I created in my mind and put it out for everyone to see. ​It's really exciting to see that Bella has grown legs and is evolving every day. It's been really fun and we look forward to one day adding more products. Watch this space!

➳ WHAT DOES BESPOKE MEAN TO YOU?
​In two words - ​ ​creative individuality​. When I think bespoke, I think how any one piece can be created just for you and no one else. Because with cakes, really no two cakes are exactly the same. They may be similarities in build, flavour and colour, but no two are ever the exact same. So with bespoke, it's very personal and a way to express yourselves and the celebration. Making a cake each time involves a lot of creative input and brainstorming, so I absolutely love it when clients come to me with an idea and it is reflected in their cake. And everyone gets to participate in the eating of said cake - everyone's a winner!


➳ DO YOU HAVE ANY FAVOURITE FLAVOURS?
​Hands down our favorite flavour is our Raffaello Cake. With base layers of coconut and vanilla, white chocolate ganache and slithers of almonds, this flavour combo equals instant happiness! Plus coconut reminds us of holidays (pina colada's!) ​Our Wedding cake was three tiers of Rafaello goodness and now it'll always hold a special place in my heart.

➳ HOW LONG OUT FROM A WEDDING SHOULD A COUPLE BOOK IN THEIR WEDDING CAKE DESIGNER?
​Ideally I would book at least 3-4 months out to avoid missing out on availability. In peak Wedding season's maybe even 5 months out as some particular weekends are more popular than others. So I recommend reaching out to us to check what our availability is and book in for a couples Wedding cake tasting. Cakes that require sugar florals (our Wedding cake for example) takes a good couple of weeks to hand make and paint every rose and peony, so ​contacting us early would ensure the perfect petals are created.

➳ TELL US ABOUT THE B+P PROCESS - TASTINGS, DELIVERY ETC
​Planning a Wedding can be overwhelming, with juggling different wedding things all at once​ - trust me I know! So with Bella, we make the cake experience, right from the first initial e-mail right through the happy couple cutting the cake as easy as possible! We like to be very collaborative with couples so that their wedding cake is everything they imagined. We will ask all the initial questions such as serving sizes, wedding cake build, flavours etc and then work on the styling and design of the perfect wedding cake. We hold wedding cake tastings at HQ once a month where couples can taste our signature flavours and bring their cake inspo for discussion. As a service we do delivery within Melbourne and also provide equipment for hire to complete your Wedding cake experience, which includes our cake server and knife sets and a variety of Wedding cake stands.

➳ IF YOU COULD CHOOSE YOUR FAVOURITE TYPE OF CAKE TOPPER - WHAT WOULD IT BE?
​Anything GOLD, we're a sucker for gold mirror toppers and have started our own little collection. A second favourite would be toppers made of light coloured birch wood, loving the natural and clean look of those toppers.
