➳ How and when was THE CAKE HOUSE COMPANY born? The Cakehouse Company was born in 2018, formerly known as Cupcakes & Candles we decided to rebrand and give our cakes and sweets a fresh new face. We are two sisters who’s love for baking and all things beautiful work together to create unique creations tailored to our customers every want and need. Grandma’s vanilla cupcake recipe is where it all began, and is still one of our most favourite recipes to date!

➳ What can THE CAKE HOUSE COMPANY offer a couple for their Wedding day? Custom cakes, handmade with love and all the care and detail possible. We pride ourselves in working closely with our couples to create their dream cakes that taste as fantastic as they look!

➳ Did you always know that you wanted to be a cake & dessert designer? We have always loved cake, and art. The fact that we get to create such beautiful things each day makes it so much sweeter. Niesje (our baker) is a Registered Nurse. She has always loved to bake ever since she was a little girl. Baking with grandma are some of her fondest childhood memories. Baking was a hobby for her until a friend asked her to make a cake for a special event. The response and feedback was so positive that it has led us to where we are today, and we are so glad it did!

➳ What advice would you offer to a couple that is just starting out on their search for the perfect Wedding dessert? The sky is the limit, you can create such amazing things with cakes and other sweets. We would suggest that couples sit down and have a think about what type of dessert they would like on their special day. Whether it be a cake, cupcakes, dessert bar or even doughnuts!

From there we suggest they think about what style they would like, from simple and elegant to bright and bold. Once they have decided on these few things we can work together to make their vision come to fruition and make their special day one they will never forget.

➳ Do you have a personal favourite style? Yes we do! We don’t cover our cakes in fondant. You can do such amazing things with butter cream and ganache and personally we want our cakes to taste as good as they look. We love simplistic, elegant and natural shapes, fresh blooms to make our cakes blossom and different textures to add extra dimensions and flare.

➳ Please tell us about the best part about what you do: We love that we get to be a part of so many special occasions, that our creations are front and centre and that family and friends create memories around our cakes. Food brings people together and we love that about our jobs.
